Further Education for Drivers of Hazardous
Materials According to Chapter 8.2 ADR

The course provides the knowledge that a driver of hazardous materials needs to have in order to carry out tasks and fulfil duties as required by the law and regulations. Enrolment in a further education course is compulsory for drivers who wish to have their valid ADR certificate renewed.

Target Group:

People who transport hazardous materials in different categories, including Class 1 (explosives) and Class 7 (radioactive) in packages or as bulk materials requiring registration. For drivers of vehicles with the permitted maximum total load of more than 3.5 tonnes, including tanks, battery vehicles with a tankage of more than 1 000 litres, and tank containers with a capacity of more than 3 000 litres.

Subjects Covered:

General features of dangers, documentation, accompanying papers, registration and labelling, types of vehicles and transportation, circumvallation, equipment, the carrying out of transportation, duties and responsibilities, measures to be taken after accidents and incidents, changes and innovations.

Validity and Duration:

The ADR certificate is valid for 5 years. In the fifth year, an additional course must be attended. An exam also needs to be passed at the end of the training. The course can be undertaken up to 12 months before the expiry of the ADR certificate without shortening its validity.
